Boston College lost its opening round game to the Trojans of USC on Friday.

BC hung in most of the game, but eventually fell to the Trojans superior rebounding and defense.  The Eagles lost 72-55.

The loss is one of many that hurts the Atlantic Coast Conference’s image in this year’s tournament.  While most conferences only receive one or two bids to the tournament, the ACC and Big East received seven each.

Losses by middle-of-the-pack ACC teams such as BC and Clemson (plus major upsets like Wake Forest’s loss to Cleveland State) have led to major criticism of the large number of bids the conference received.
